RUDOLF KAREL SCHNEEWEISS

Born at the end of the World War II. in Brno, Moravia, Czech Republic, Rudy started to draw and paint with great vigour at the age of fourteen. By the time Rudy was eighteen he had his first exhibition in Prague.

During his college years, although busy with discovering new horizons, Rudy did not put away his brushes or chisels. Together with a group of artist friends he organized exhibits and took an active part in the fashionable “Happenings Movement”, an activity frowned upon by the Communist Government.

Success in selling his creative work prompted Rudy to look into the international art scene and a break for freedom took him to Vienna, where he settled with his young family.

At the age of twenty-three he moved to Winnipeg, Canada, where he painted a series of surrealist paintings. Most of the works were exhibited in Europe, where Rudy felt at home and had established contacts with Galleries.

In 1972 Rudy relocated to Vancouver, where he worked in watercolors and had several showings but his passion was always oil painting, which eventually prevailed.

In Vancouver, he established his own design company and worked there until the year 2000. Since then he has painted full time, exploring new avenues of expression in landscapes and figural motifs.

Quality and brush technique of his paintings are his signature. He prepares all his canvases himself and applies oil paint in many layers making his paintings exquisitely depth bright.
