Don Dahlke finds inspiration in the Caribbean and Mexico - a long way from his native Oregon. Born in the 1940s, Dahlke was the son of an Oregon feed and garden merchant. However, it soon became apparent that his passion was for painting.

Dahlke now works throughout the Caribbean, in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, and in his hometown of Portland, Oregon.

The artist’s scenes of doorways and windows with inviting views to warm beaches, blue skies and swaying palms are like glimpses of paradise. Using a rich Caribbean palette and successfully rendering tropical light and sultry shadows, Dahlke takes us to island getaways.

Dahlke works with oil on canvas, in a vivid realistic style, continually exploring "the mystique of the Caribbean. There is so much history and diversity here."
